Rebuilt from Quartz’s own CSS. The pages, files and phone screen are sample content. Choose a tab.

02Workspaces

Workspaces.

Coloured groups of tabs. Each workspace can carry its own project folder and its own side pane, so each project keeps its own set of tabs.

Pick a workspace in the panel: the strip shows its tabs, and the title bar takes a trace of its colour.

The switcher, with sample workspaces and tabs. Choose one: the panel closes, as Quartz’s does, and the pill opens it again.

03Blocking

One blocker for every tab.

Quartz blocks ads and trackers across every tab with Ghostery’s blocking engine. When a site needs them to work, one switch allows that site, and only that site.

The panel behind the shield, over a sample page with a sample count. Try either switch.

04Pages

Make pages yours.

Strip a page down to its article with Reader mode, built on Mozilla’s Readability. Add your own styles and scripts for the sites you keep coming back to. Light and dark themes, and backgrounds for the browser.

Autocorrect uses the Windows spell checker.

A sample article in a Quartz window at its smallest size. Reader view opens in a new tab beside the page.

05New tab · Notes

A new tab laid out your way. Notes beside the page.

New tab.

Shortcuts, a clock, live CPU, memory, disk, network and GPU stats, the processes behind them, and an apps dock. Every piece can be hidden, or dragged to any spot on the page.

The new tab, at 1440 × 900. The clock is yours; the saved sites, apps and stats are sample values.

Notes pane.

Point it at a folder of .html notes and they open beside the page you’re reading. A chip for each notes file switches between them, and Open in a tab opens them in a normal tab.

The Notes pane beside a page, at its default width. Sample notes.

Download for Windows

Quartz-Setup.exe · 131.9 MB · Windows 11 x64 · v0.1.1

The installer is per-user, so there’s no admin prompt. It isn’t signed yet, so Windows warns you before it runs. The steps show what to click.

To check your copy, run Get-FileHash .\Quartz-Setup.exe in PowerShell and compare.

Requirements and limits

  • Windows 11, x64.
  • Claude tabs need Claude Code installed.
  • The phone tab needs adb and scrcpy.
  • Streaming sites that use protected video (Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and similar) won’t play in this build. Quartz offers to open them in Edge.

After you download

  1. Your browser may warn that Quartz-Setup.exe “isn’t commonly downloaded”. Choose Keep.
  2. Run it. Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”. Click More info, check that the app is Quartz-Setup.exe (Publisher: Unknown publisher), then Run anyway. There’s no admin prompt.
  3. A short “Installing” window appears, then Quartz opens on “Welcome to Quartz”. Pick a look, choose a search engine, decide whether Quartz should be your default browser, then start browsing. Skip setup is always there.
Updates
When a new version is out, Quartz shows Download the installer. Run it over the old copy; your tabs, logins and settings stay.
Uninstall
Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Quartz → Uninstall. To remove everything, also delete %APPDATA%\Quartz.
Prefer to build from source?

You’ll need git and Node.js 22.12 or newer, below 27. Quartz then runs from the folder you cloned.

  • git clone https://github.com/atlas-studio-software/quartz
  • cd quartz
  • npm ci
  • npm start

07Limits

What Quartz doesn’t do yet.

  • It runs on Windows 11 only. There’s no macOS or Linux build.
  • Protected video (Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and similar) doesn’t play in this build.
  • It has been built and tested on one machine.
  • The installer isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows warns you before it runs.

Source and licence.

Version 0.1.1, GPL-3.0. Issues are welcome; pull requests aren’t accepted right now.
