Try it on this page: hold Ctrl, Alt and Shift, then press Backspace. With Mantle running, it really fires.
Mantle
If Mantle hid your taskbar
- Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Backspace
- Still hidden? Open Start → All apps → Mantle → Restore Windows taskbar.
- Last resort. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc, select Windows Explorer, and choose Restart.
Built from source? Run tools\restore-windows.ps1 from your Mantle folder; it needs no Node, Electron or Mantle.

Installing
“Windows protected your PC”
The installers aren’t code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen warns you the first time. Click More info, check the app name is the installer you downloaded, then Run anyway. There’s no admin prompt.
If your browser says the file “isn’t commonly downloaded”, choose Keep. More on each installer on the Download page.
Common questions
Asked before.
Does Helm come with Claude Code?
No. Install Claude Code from Anthropic and sign in once; Helm uses your install.
Helm’s first run says it couldn’t get ready.
The first run downloads Anthropic’s Claude Agent SDK from the npm registry. The window says why it failed (offline, npm blocked, a proxy); fix that and click Try again.
Netflix or Disney+ won’t play in Quartz.
Protected video doesn’t play in this build. Quartz offers to open those sites in Edge.
Do they run on macOS, Linux or Windows 10?
Windows only. Helm runs on Windows 10 and 11; Quartz and Mantle need Windows 11.
Is Mantle safe to try?
Use it at your own risk: it takes over parts of the Windows 11 shell and has been built and tested on one PC. Every way back is listed at the top of this page.
